The University of Limpopo is the result of a merger between the former Medical University of Southern Africa and the University of the North, which merger occurred on 01 January 2005. The Campus is situated to the north-west of Pretoria. Its grounds extend over some 350 ha adjoining the Ga-Rankuwa Township and are easily accessible by roads and rail. The Innovation Hub, the innovation agency of the Gauteng Province is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency.  It was established by the Gauteng Provincial Government through its Department of Economic Development to promote economic development and competitiveness of Gauteng through fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.

Senovate has develeped a fruit-picking device called the Omniharvester. It allows pickers to harvest fruit from tall trees without having to elevate themselves. It comprises a long telescopic pole made from aluminium with a hook at the top that has scissor blades concealed in it. The user simply locates the fruit stalk by hooking it, he/she simply presses the lever at the bottom which forces the scissor blades together, therefore, cutting the fruitstalk.
