The Innovation Hub, the innovation agency of the Gauteng Province is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency.  It was established by the Gauteng Provincial Government through its Department of Economic Development to promote economic development and competitiveness of Gauteng through fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.

The Innovation Hub offers a number of incubation programmes in the Bioeconomy (agro-processing and pharmaceutical), Smart Industries (ICT and advanced manufacturing) and Green Economy (Water purification, waste management and renewable

Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) is situated on the outskirts of Durban and overlooks the beautiful Indian Ocean. University education is tertiary education that provides students with career oriented skills through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the work place. MUT co-operates closely with commerce and industry to ensure that the curriculum of a particular qualification is completely relevant to the chosen field and that the qualification is market related.

The Durban University of Technology is a tertiary institute of learning that has seven campuses in Durban and Pietermaritzburg. We aim to be the preferred university for developing leadership in technology and productive citizenship. To achieve this DUT is promoting excellence in learning and teaching, a sense of community, extending technology transfer and applied research and encouraging the external engagement which promotes innovation and entrepreneurship through collaborations and partnerships.

We facilitate the translation of local knowledge resources into sustainable socio-economic opportunities.

The Department of Science and Innovation seeks to boost socio-economic development in South Africa through research and innovation. To achieve its goals, the Department provides leadership, an enabling environment and resources for science, technology and innovation. Through its Programmes (Administration; Technology Innovation; International Cooperation and Resources; Research Development and Support; and Socio-economic Innovation Partnerships) and several entities that work alongside it, the Department is accomplishing groundbreaking science and enhancing the well-being of all South Africans

Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda) is an agency of the Department of Small Business Development (DSBD). SEDA serves to promote entrepreneurship and develop small enterprises by providing customised non-financial business support services that result in business growth and sustainability in collaboration with other role players.

The Department of Trade Industry and Competition (the dtic) was established after the merger of the Department of Trade and Industry and the Economic Development Department.
