The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is a public university located in Johannesburg. It is one of the largest comprehensive contact universities in South Africa, with 9 faculties, having more than 90 departments and an enrollment of approximately 48 000 students spreading over four different campuses. UJ's Commercialisation and Technology Transfer Office (CTTO) assists entrepreneurs and inventors with the commercial implementation of innovative technologies or business processes especially in developing strategies for the protection IP.

The Innovation Hub, the innovation agency of the Gauteng Province is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency.  It was established by the Gauteng Provincial Government through its Department of Economic Development to promote economic development and competitiveness of Gauteng through fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.

Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda) is an agency of the Department of Small Business Development (DSBD).
