Its focus is to support and promote innovation by creating platforms that will build and develop the innovation ecosystem in Durban. Innovate Durban was set up by the eThekwini Municipality in 2013 in an effort to create a conducive environment for innovation. At the time, there was a lack of support for innovation and there was limited collaboration. Innovate Durban was initially set up as a Stakeholder Forum that brought together business, government, academia, civil society and entrepreneurs

In the lower south coast, more garbage is ending up in landfills and incinerators. Thulikaceb Recycling Company is turning into AI-assisted robots to help sort garbage in recycling plants. Contamination in the rural areas and informal settlements is high since recyclables are often dumped into one bin instead of multi-streamed or separated from the source. Therefore, Thulikaceb Recycling is developing AI-assisted robotic technology that can work with humans in processing plants and improve quality control.

Loo Afrique is a manufacturer of improved sanitation solutions with an aim to save water, improve hygiene and flush using greywater. All the products that are manufactured, are locally designed in conjunction with the SABS Design Institute, and locally manufactured in South Africa-Tshwane. We currently manufacture 3 types of products:

1. The Pee Basin: A urinal unit fitted with a hand wash basin, allowing the user to Pee, Flush and Wash their hands with every flush).
2. The Evo-Flush Toilet: A 4-6 litre flushing toilet unit fitted with a hand washbasin.
3. The V-Cistern: A 3 liter flushing toilet
