Overview of Organisation

Founded in 2008, The Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) is a non-profit program established by Meltwater with the goal of equipping high potential young Africans with the skills required to launch globally successful software companies, enabling them to create jobs and wealth locally to stimulate economic growth across the African economy. Every year, aspiring entrepreneurs with a strong interest in technology & entrepreneurship from Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, and recently Cote d'Ivoire, apply and compete for 60 open spots in the program. MEST entrepreneurs have developed solutions addressing local & global markets, received outside follow-on funding from global investors, and have gained admittance to top accelerator programs such as Y-Combinator, 500 Startups, and TechStars. Since its inception, MEST has invested over $ 15 million in training 400+ individual entrepreneurs and over 25 tech companies have been launched via seed funding and mentorship from MEST.
