According to UN 2018 Revision of the World Urbanization Prospects data, the global rural population is now close to 3.4 billion and is expected to rise slightly and then decline to 3.1 billion by 2050. Africa and Asia are home to nearly 90% of the world’s rural population in 2018. India has the largest rural population (893 million), followed by China (578 million). The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed the harsh realities of poor access to critical care for people in vulnerable communities living in largely populated areas, remote or rural areas with poor transportation. Most of the residents in these communities may forgo good care due to lack of transportation, high costs to travel long distances and lack of reliable income to access speciality care.

Poor staffing in remote location facilities with speciality and subspecialty providers limits access to critical healthcare information to survive and thrive. Providers get limited information on the previous healthcare status of the patient in an emergency to monitor and track the progress of a patient's wellbeing.

Our solution promotes linkages of communities with health facilities and government entities through a mobile app -Teleafya. We connect patients to basic and specialized medical
services that may be otherwise unavailable in their community. We reduce the distance patients have to travel to receive speciality services.

Our integrated symptom surveillance and contact tracing in response to COVID-19 ensure that healthcare providers and government entities get timely, accurate, and transparent symptom-based information to fight the pandemic and reduce uncertainty in the populations served.  Teleafya helps boost confidence to return to school and work by disseminating self-diagnosis location-based information to the community to make informed decisions in self-isolation. With geolocation that is integrated into the application, users can find the closest COVID-19 testing and laboratory centre to get immediate care. The application is HIPAA compliant and does not display personally identifiable information to the public.
